Let’s be BFFS

(best fiddle friends)

What’s going on, fiddle friends! I’m teaching violin (and viola!) both in-person and online from the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I’ve got over ten years of teaching experience, training from some of the best violinists in the nation, and a robust professional career as a performer. Needless to say, I’ve got your (violin) back!

And oh, yeah - I absolutely LOVE teaching adults! It’s the best thing you can do for your mind and body. It’s especially good for you if you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, or attention issues. If you have any particular injuries or needs, I will work with you to create a plan! Violin benefits all bodies, all needs, and all ages!

I’m Laura - Your New Violin Bestie!

Go ahead and try out a class with me. I promise I don’t bite!

  • My name is Laura Zawarski, and I’m your new bestie (and violin teacher)! I’m a multi-genre violinist with over 10 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and levels. I trained in classical violin for 20 years under the instruction of Michael Rosenbloom (CM Boston Ballet Orchestra Emeritus, Boston Pops), Linda Kistler (Pennsylvania Sinfonia, Allentown Symphony, Bach Festival Orchestra), and Jane Starkman (Handel and Haydn Society, Boston University, Wellesley College). I’ve been featured on the Today Show, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, EllenTube, and regularly on Classic.FM! You can read about me more on my website at www.laurazawarski.com.

  • I like to specialize my approach to suit individual learning styles, goals, and personal difficulties a student may want to address. Violin can offer much more than just a valuable connection with music. With the right approach, violin studies can help soothe anxiety and depression, understand patterns in attention and distraction, and build confidence in one’s self — at any age! If you’re dealing with any injuries or mobility issues, let me know! Violin can be accessible to all.

  • NOPE!

  • Hmm… maybe. I don’t recommend starting lessons earlier than four years old. If you’d like to develop a program for your child at a younger age, please reach out to me directly at lessons@laurazawarski.com and I will work with you to create a customized program!

  • That’s okay!!!! Let me know when you come into our lesson. Approaching violin or viola can be intimidating, but you’re not alone in your journey! We’ll figure it out together and I will be with you through every step with a toolkit full of anti-anxiety exercises and techniques that will help develop a positive relationship with your instrument and build your confidence. You got this! Starting is the hardest part!
